Introduction
Calorised Pipes are developed for the first time in India. They are of a very special type. Both inner and outer surfaces of Pipes are given a calorising treatment under high temperature in which diffusion of aluminum takes place into the surface of the steel. Subsequently the calorised pipes are given Chromium Boron treatment as required. The Calorising treatment given these pipes an extra ordinarily higher life and resistance to corrosion at high temperature than ordinary pipes and expensive stainless and alloy steel pipes normally used in chemical factories and refineries. The average life of Calorised pipes is many times more than that of ordinary Pipes and Stainless Steel Pipes. Calorised Pipes are used in areas requiring high temperature and corrosive applications as follows:

1. Heat exchangers, handling hot and corrosive gas.
2. Finned tubes
3. Gas ducts for SO2 H2S gases
4. Reformer tubes
5. Regenerator tubes
6. Refinery Flue gas tubes
7. Ethylene Pyrolysis furnace tubes
8. Oxygen lancing pipes in Alloy Steel
    Plants and copper smelters.

They are used as better and Cheaper material of construction in the following equipments:
Boilers
Transfer Lines
Burners Heat Exchangers
Recuperators Refinery Heaters
Thermo wells Chemical Reactors
Soot Blowers Sulphur Condensers
Air Pre-heaters Fluidised Bed Exchangers
Exposure at 1000oF (538oC)
in air containing 10% SO2
Carbon Steel- Heavily scaled
Type 304 Stainless – Light Scale
Calorised Carbon Steel – No Scale

A comparison between ordinary steel pipes, expensive imported Alloy Steel Pipes and Stainless Steel Pipes under different corrosive conditions is as follows

Availability
Calorised Pipe are tailor made depending upon the operating conditions. In order to supply the right pipe for the right usage, it is necessary for the user industry to indicate the operating and physical parameters.
Calorising is available with aluminium, Chromium and Boron. Combinations of these metals can also be supplied.

The available sizes are:
Lowest Diameter: 13.2mm OD | Highest Diameter: 400mm OD | Length: 6 meters

Usage
These pipes are used as normal pipes. They can be mechanically bent and welded. Welding is done by inert gas atmosphere and SS Filler Wires. There is no heat-affected zone during welding. The Calorised portion fuses into the weld.
